An advanced preferences floater would not be much different from all the 
"Advanced" buttons we already have in the existing one but less standard 
and harder to find something you're looking for. I prefer working hard 
to find good organizations of all Preferences controls considered to 
have value and not worrying so much about the number of them. When in 
doubt, moving a control to or from the Advanced menu is a reasonable 
solution.
