This bug is old, has got patches and 23 votes and Linux
users would like to see it fixed:

Maybe this is a good idea for the http-texture viewer?

I think it's an easy fix. Maybe changing all the shortcuts 
in the viewer would make more sense, and I know this was
almost done; but there were no updates about this since 
a few months, and IMHO other shortcuts can wait. This 
feature is broken on Linux since 2 years and this is bad
for both machinima and immersive SL experience in general.
