Ah ha, great question, Alissa! I totally agree that we need to be clear
with our names and terminology. I've already made some small wiki edits
using my own understanding in mind so I'll just spell out my
understanding and encourage others to jump in if they have a different
understanding.
* Snowglobe is the name of the *product* regardless of when any binary
is built from the associated branch.
* HTTP-texture is the name of the first major *project* going into the
product, as well as being the name of the branch (presumably soon to be
renamed).
There is no need to use the phrase "Snowglobe viewer" any more than you
would use the phrase "Firefox browser". I would say things like
"Snowglobe uses HTTP textures" the same way I would say "Firefox has a
plug-in architecture". The longer form is accurate, but I think it is
especially helpful to use the shorter term when possible especially
because I think the term "viewer" was poorly chosen and we should stop
using it when describing all Second Life clients. Each product line
should have it's own unique name. I'm *really* glad that this one has
been named. And such a cute name it is! Thanks Q!
