It does work if you replace the pre-built boost libraries.

This is becoming such a problem now (as 2005 is quite difficult to get
hold of for express) i think its time we had some definitive
instructions that walk people through the process of sorting out the
boost libraries for VS2008.

I'll try to throw an updated version of the instructions together and
see if i can host some prebuilt boosts for 2008 to save some effort here.
