Hi everyone,
I've been talking with folks at Linden Lab about how to deal with bugs
filed in the public JIRA. A group decided a good next step would be to
have a bug triage, where we start working through the issues, and
decided to co-opt my next in-world office hour to do it. Friday, 3pm
PDT at Grasmere at my cubicle.
There are still some things we've gotta fix under the hood with our JIRA
implementation to make things really work well, but in the meantime,
here's what we plan to do:
* Look at the results of this query ("Bugs, sorted by LL ID"):
https://jira.secondlife.com/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?mode=hide&requestId=10155
* Page to the earliest request that hasn't yet been imported
* Start triaging
We're probably going to take number of votes and number/quality of
repros into account, so if there's something you want to make sure we
get around to, please add whatever debug information you can, and vote
for the issues that you think are most important. Several have
suggested a "three vote, three repro" rule for importing, which isn't
yet official policy, but gives you an idea of where we're heading.
We'll make an executive decision whether or not to factor votes in to
our ordering of handling issues. There's over 150 issues that need to
be sorted through, and I doubt we'll be able to actually discuss more
than 20 of them, so I'm hoping we can discuss the 20 most important
issues rather than a random 20.
Lindens: if you are aware of a duplicate issue filed internally, please
enter the number of the internal issue into the external tracker.
Details for this are here:
https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Bug_triage
Feel free to use the list to discuss, but if things get out of hand on
list, please take the conversation to the bug triage talk page as well.
Thanks!
Rob
