[sldev] Open Source Server Code

What will it mean when the server code is open sourced? Will this code
allow me run my own small version of SL on my own private network, or
does it mean I can only hook into the main grid?

If you hook up to the main grid, how does this effect land ownership?
Will running server code automatically give you a set amount of land? Is
one instance of server code equal to one region of land? Will there be a
connection fee to be "attached" to the main grid?

Has anyone asked these questions before, I'm new to the list.
