Anyone with an internet connection which has serious problems (either in terms of speed or download limits) downloading an extra 20meg for an updated viewer once or twice a month, is likely to have issues running the viewer in the first place.

Some of our users are running SL from a dialup connection. Yes, I know
that sounds silly, but for them it's either that or not at all, and it
does actually work if you are careful. An extra 20 megs might be a
major problem for them, while these people have headaches enough just
with things as they are now. I think it would be good to have any
plus-size downloads as an option, and not bundled with the viewer
download. Also the point has been made that some of these fonts are not
very good quality, and might be seen as a poor substitute.
I have fonts covering unique ranges on my system (Linux) that show up
automatically in other apps but not in SL. Why is that? Perhaps
getting the viewer to use the fonts already present would be a good
priority.
