The way I use IRC, it's got as much in common with a mailing list as
with IM.
I'm *always* online on IRC.
I can go back days in the discussion, keep up with what's happened.
There's 15-20 years of bot development. There are bots that post
links to del.icio.us, that remember specific comments.
IRC channels are interleaved on the screen, I don't miss stuff in
another channel because I'm busy.
IRC isn't as good as a mailing list, but it's not like SL groups.
