Argh. Okay, it's confirmed, seems this is ultimately OpenJPEG's fault
after all. There was a bug introduced in svn465 that was visible in SL
as uninitialized textures. This bug was fixed in svn483. This bug seemed
to somehow trigger a leak... somewhere else. The leak was not in
OpenJPEG as far as I could tell, which is why I didn't suspect it as
much as I should have. I guess Mesa 7 somehow magnified this leak. So it
appears it was a nasty interaction of things.

The interaction between OpenJPEG's error reporting and what slviewer
expects may need some work...

Upgrade your OpenJPEG snapshots if you've got 'em...

I guess the plan now is a new release possibly before christmas, they're
working on integrating a Java wrapper:
