Those are two very good example of reactions caused by unrealistic 
expectations.

The sculpty one was caused by the client hiding the texture when the 
object was no-mod; it should never hide the texture.

The copybot one is obvious, people had a false expectation of 
protection, and were struggling to maintain that false security with 
even more false security.

Just because people will buy snake oil doesn't mean it's ethical to sell 
it to them.
