Seems like a lot of work for no gain.

Why not just rename your executable "MyCoolViewer.exe", and tell users to
simply drop it into the Second Life directory?

Then the user can run SecondLife.exe or MyCoolViewer.exe (or even both at
once), without the need for having a switcher, etc.

You can create an installer which simply copies the file over, creates a
desktop shortcut, and be done with it.

Maybe more interesting for the Mac?
