[sldev] Just askin': How are we doing?

I'm convinced Linden Lab is doing a lot better with the open source community.
- Rob is running bug and patch triage sessions
- Bridie brings new developers into Studio Blacklight to learn to
process your patches as part of their developer orientation, and many
stay on to keep pulling those in
- Many developers are now cutting through the patches at a frantic
pace, with Sardonyx far in the lead - he's a buzzsaw!
- The release team (or just Anthony?) is taking over source
deployments to keep you better in sync with released viewers
- We're making an effort to direct an increasing number of residents
to the JIRA to vote on the patches you contribute as well as general
reported bugs
- Starting shortly, we'll hold a combined open source office hour
where you can find Rob's steering, Liana's licensing and legal, and my
developer input all in the same place.
This raises a few questions for me. Firstly, from where you stand,
*are* we doing better overall?
Second, is there anything we're doing *worse*? Any recent changes you
*don't* like?
Lastly, what can we still do better? Are there one or two things that
frustrate you the most, which we could make part of our third quarter
goals?
I've been looking at other open source projects for a while, looking
for other ideas we can adopt. Nicholaz Beresford suggested watching
the wine lists, which I've done, as well as looking in on a couple of
the Linux distributions. I'm trying to identify the things we do
differently, where they might have the better answer. I've got a small
list I'm ready to discuss, including a couple of the long-standing
pain points, but I want to get your input before pushing my own ideas.
