[sldev] Voice =/= Proprietary

Hahahaha I do that all the time, but most of them get it (by luck! (: ) before sending.
My problem is connection speed, it's supposedly a 256kbps dsl, but we get really around 30. With two comps all the time in SL, you can imagine how good is it! (And no way to speed it up. Phone company next option is a 500kb, but they say our line can[t go over 300, so impossible to install. Our reasoning that for 256 they deliver 30 so for 500 it would be 60, way under the 300 limit, don't work, they refuse. And cable tv offers a wonderful 2Mb connection. We have cable tv. But the internet connection isn't offered to your location, only after they go digital some time in the future... Stuck!!!
But these are personal problems... only wonder how many people in SL, premium account like me, have a situation like that?
Jesse, this is good to know, but since the voice will be 3D, won't have a lot of info going between SL and the voice thing?

I like voice chat. It's fun, and if you have appearances to keep up, you can use a voice modulator or not use voice at all.
The voice servers are not at Linden Lab, they are provided by Vivox, so no more server lag using voice than not.

I personally am against voice in SL. I think the chat part is one of the
main character features of SL and wonder how many residents don't want it to
be much closer to reality than it is now, like me. I've talking around and
most people don't want a talking feature.
But of course I can just turn it off...
But what bothers me a lot is that there is a ton of lag occurring all
around, I'm for one month having to deal with trying about 15 times (no
joking, i counted many many times) to take anything from my inventory, and I
just can't understand why adding something that will be a burden on
connections wihle these problems are so much more important to solve before.
