Hi everyone,
It seems that most people don't have a problem with the guidelines that
I posted the other day. There hasn't been comment for a couple of days,
so (with a minor tweak allowing for forums as an acceptable target to
redirect an sldev to) the new guidelines are posted here:
https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/SLDev
There was one person dissenting, one person agreeing, while everyone
else seems to have quietly moved over to the new way of doing things.
However, you should still feel free to comment further on the talk page:

As you saw, the very lively discussion about the texture cache quickly
died down on this mailing list, having moved to the wiki. There, it
continues apace. Additionally, a brief summary of the discussion is
included on the main "Texture cache" page:
https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Texture_cache
I moved some of the information about how the system currently works
over from the "Image System" page. In general, I hope we can figure out
how to tie in any new conversations into the existing document framework
in a similar manner (either using the talk page for an existing page, or
weaving in a new page into the existing web of pages).
While using a wiki is probably harder for the most active participants
in the conversation (because it's harder to figure out where the new
comments are, and to keep track of what you've already read), I think
the wiki is much, much better for the less active participant and for
anyone who wants to go back and read the conversation a month or two
down the road. There's been a lot of activity, and yet it's still
easily encapsulated on a single page. If there's someone that is eager
to implement these improvements now, they should have plenty to inform
their decision. Even if interest in this dies down now, I think there's
a lot of good stuff there for someone to pick up later.
If you have anything to add to the texture cache conversation, please
add it:

Thanks!
Rob
