I have never tried any of the font packages Matuu suggested, but the
following is my general policy for East Asian typefaces selection.

I don't think so.

I believe most of the Japanese users prefer sans-serif Japanese font,
since it is the style used in SL viewer for ASCII characters, and
Japanese gothic (sans-serif) better matches with the MtBkLfRg. Mixing
Japanese mincho (serif) with sans-serif Latin fonts makes a poor
design.

I would say we should use hei style for Chinese. Kai is some sort of
a manuscript style, and ming, song, sun are serif. However, I also
know that hei style is not popular in Taiwan, and it is not easy to
find a good hei style font for Traditional Chinese. In mainland
China, hei style is widely used, and it should be no problem finding
simplified heiti fonts.

Dotum, gulim, or gothic. When both are available, I personally prefer
gulim, but dotum may be an ordinary choice, since dotum is usually
designed more similarly to Helvetica/Arial style than gulim.

Hope this helps,
