[sldev] AWG: Geometric Content Creation

All (especially content creators!)

There have been a number of discussions on how to best organize people with
particular interests as we define a better and more open Second Life.
Viewpoint Avocacy Groups are being set up to address specific areas.

For me, I'm interested in 3D geometric content creation. If you work with or
try to program sculpties you may be like me. Chances are you want richer
forms of expression and better ways to make use of existing non-SL assets
(such as what you have in Maya, Blender, or the many other file formats and
tools which just don't work well with SL today). Or maybe you just want to
create a better in-world tool.

So perhaps a "Physical Content Creation" VAG makes better sense than the
more abstract "Geometry and
Physics"<http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Geometry_and_Physics_VAG>VAG
. I would expect this to include bringing in 3D geometric assets from
other VWs, hooking up user created and professional tools, better 3D file
format support and looking at ways of reprsenting new types of 3D data that
can do more and be efficient. It would also include scalability issues which
are EXTREMELY important in this area.

I'm thinking this better follows the sucessful "sculpted prim" model which
has engaged people so well. Its just at a higher level with a more long term
view.

Any thoughts on this?

Mark
