Oh, I'm basically okay with lists too.  The gateway on mysldved is nice,
I didn't even know something like that existed.

I can handle either, but my preference is simply forums, because it's
easier to ignore unwanted threads, stuff is archived in a contextual
form and easily searched etc.  I also found them easier to moderate
splitting threads with a new topic, moving threads between
sections etc.

But basically I'll go where the interesting action is and would
contribute just like where it comes natural to me, like I'm posting
some stuff on the blog and others on the list here, based on the
audience.

I've subscribed to your lists and the mysldev forum and will just
hop between them.  Stuff like that can't be planned anyway, it just
happens and IMHO most of it has more to do with the general
atmosphere rather than the technical format.
