Have you ever checked to see how much LL's makes from Tier payments?
There are currently 9988 sims in SL, of those around 2900 are mainland sims,
the other 7,088 are private islands.
Considering that the Private Island Tier was raised to $295 at the end of
2006. At that time there were around 3000 private islands So that gives us
4,088 sims that are at the $295 a month tier.
2900 x $195 = $565,500.00
3000 x $195 = $585,000.00
4088 x $295 = $1,205,960.00
For a total of $2,356,460 in Tier Payments.... This is the MINIMUM amount as
this presumes all sims are owned by one person. The smaller the parcel the
higher the profit. A mainland Sim can bring as high as $640 a month in tier
if the whole thing was 512 plots owned by different people. The average is
probably somewhere around $300 a month for a mainland sim (which is right
around the new price of private islands... how interesting)
2900 x $300 = $870,000.00
So between $2,356,460 and $2,660,960.00
-------
Now for selling Lindens they only make $599,586 US from selling lindens in
July
$65,503 dollars from people buying lindens ($0.30 per transaction)
And roughly $254,000 US dollars from the 3.5% on all sales
$919,089 total from the LindeX in July
So LL's would need to make up roughly 1.8 Million dollars if they got out of
the hosting business.
And I seriously doubt they would come close to making that amount up by
taking over SLX.
