Not true, I'm still a free account with no land, and I sell most of my
products through SLExchange, also free. I've got the server in one of
the free SLExchange box places.

All I have is an SL account.

Alternatively, I could rent a parcel from another person for a couple L$.

Most of the development I do in SL is script based, so I use LSLEditor
[1] out-world to build 98% of what I need for a project. Don't even
need a sandbox for most of the work. :)

Currently, my only cost for all my SL development is paying $15 a
month for a linux VPS to run apache with PHP and Ruby on Rails for
llHTTPRequest to interact with.

Sooo, at the moment, LL gets a big fat $0 a month from me. And I get
quite a nice chunk of money back from it. :D
