That doesn't mean that they don't earn anything due to your activity
though. They get money every time somebody buys L$ to pay you, as well
as every time you exchange the L$ for cash if you do that.

If you don't sell your L$ you probably use some of it to buy from
somebody else, which in many cases will ultimately pay tier, get
converted to USD, etc.
