I wouldn't go too mad fixing things for scons. It may be an idea
checking out the cmake-8 branch, its reasonably upto date and apart
from the -Wno-write-strings (VWR-4456) it will build/did build with
gcc-4.3. If your going to invest any time with the build system and
gcc compatibility throw it at cmake-8 (VWR-2871) the last i heard
cmake was due to switch in any time now really but i assume its backed
up behind 1.20.X, any updated estimates for going live?
