[sldev] Inventory Predicament

I don't have a clue how to repro the condition that created that item, but I
do think I can create an item in my inventory with an arbitrary UUID. If I
remember correctly, when I tried using RezObject with the UUID of an item
that wasn't in my inventory, I would get an AlertMessage and a busted
inventory item would be created with that UUID. Worth noting I started
having the issue *before* I ever played with slproxy though, and I'm quite
sure I never tried it using the UUID of my Objects folder (;

I'm kind of tempted to write an app to parse an inventory cache and look for
such a problem item. I'll suggest the idea to the Second Inventory guy,
too, since he was aware of my problem, and I've shared some other ideas with
him.

Speaking of Second Inventory, I think some of you are being too hard on it.
It respects permissions, just like any other viewer that isn't banned by
name from the grid, and I was surprised by its feature depth. I think it
was the product of some of the most work anyone's ever done on a
libsecondlife client. For comparison, it looks like it was alot more work
than SLeek.

That said, before buying that, I would try the xml import/export
functionality of testclient which is freely available with libsecondlife. I
haven't tried it, myself -- it may not work, but I'd say it's worth a try
since it's so free :D I don't think it has the ability to back up your
entire inventory in one operation, though.

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're having, Timeless :(
