There is one very big thing standing in the way of making all content "creation and trusted grids" by default. And that is the rights of the creator. Failure to recognize those rights will have consequences, perhaps legal, most certainly social. Once word gets out that LL doesn't honor the rights of the creators of the IP on it's servers, SL will lose out. I don't have to practice my art here, I choose to. I can just as easily go to other venues and be creative in admittedly different forms, but at least, these forms are more IP protective.

What makes SL unique is that you can be creative, be collaborative, share your work with others, and still have relative levels of protection of that work. If those protections are thrown to the wind, it will lose it's appeal for many, as it will be little different from the Internet we have now. It would be very shortsighted of Linden Lab to toss aside the one crucial improvement over the Internet which they have created, protection and accountability (however limited it may be). Sure, 3D is nice, but you can go to IMVU for that (smirks).

I'll say it again, creative, collaborative, accessible, and yet protected, do not alter this formula. It's the magic recipe that makes SL so appealing.
