[sldev] [VWR] Scale not sticking

I'm trying to re-scale (and also potentially re-position and rotate) a set
of objects using MultipleObjectUpdate following the example of
LLSelectMgr::sendListToRegions(). I'm finding it rather unreliable. On the
first pass it might get half the objects, and the others snap back to their
original size (though the position and rotation stick). Second pass a few
more will scale. Third pass a couple more. Sometimes it takes quite a few
passes, and invariable there's one prim that won't scale no way no how.
I've seen this using the viewer build tools, too. When you resize a linked
object, sometimes the whole linkset will snap back, or worse, only one prim
will do so. The jira issue for this (not submitted by me) was closed because
there isn't a reliable repro. Some suggestions people have had have been to
make smaller changes, make smoother changes, make faster changes, make
slower changes, etc etc. Basically, play with it until it sticks, and have a
backup for when it breaks.
I'm now about to codify the "play with it until it sticks" part, since I'm
trying to do this in code, but I'd really rather it just worked.
Has anyone delt with this? Any strategy that has worked?
Thanks,
Anna
