Debian stable (etch) is on 2.8.20 which i compile against for my
distributed binaries. Unstable is on 2.12.3 which i always run on (and
some times compile on). Only issue (for me) was VWR-3813 and that is
last tagged as reaching maint-viewer-4 anyway
