Dear all,

I just wanted to let you know that we have set up a viewer project at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/realxtendviewer/
The viewer can be used as an ordinary viewer for SL in addition to realXtend
own mode, which allows using 3D meshes and some other advanced features that
are present on realXtend servers.

To make the realXtend viewer project fully GPL compatible, we are just
removing the last obstacle and changing from the FMOD to OpenAL. Unluckily
we are using FMOD for the realXtend voip as well, which makes things a bit
harder for us. If the change goes smoothly, we hope to get rid of FMOD by
the end of this month. At some point it would be nice to get rid of the
FLOSS exception as well.

The project has currently two full time developers from realXtend. Our
vision is to speed up the development of the global standardized, open
source and free 3D-web. realXtend is a bit fresh with open source so I wish
I could get your comments how to make things work the best way for you.

Best regards,
Jani Pirkola
