One more thing that's confusing me:

I'm not sure why this is a requirement for this project. It would be
nice, I guess, though since it's never worked for prims of any size
people have workarounds for it and may have builds that depend on it
(even unwittingly). What's the reasoning for making this part of the
requirements?
