At this point I think the largest remaining source of problems (at
least, ones solvable from SL rather than system config) is SLVoice
being super-fussy about the sample rates and formats offered by the
sampling hardware.  I can't really know what your specific problem
is, however.  You might want to try replacing the libopenal.so.1
in the bundle with your own version.

The voice vendor is still on the case.
