Depends on what you mean by 'usual CMake instructions'. The main
difference from the previous SL build process is probably that you call
cmake directly instead of via the develop.py script. That way, it got
closer to the build process for 'usual' CMake based projects.

I only build on Linux, not Windows, so I don't have the whole picture,
either.

Moving the third party libraries from the libs bundle to some
auto-fetching system isn't specific to easibuild2. If I remember
correctly, this change was developed on the first easibuild branch. But
by now it's present in trunk, snowglobe and most probably a bunch of
other branches.
