I'm definitively seeing this crash on Windows XP SP3, as I reported
in a comment. I do not see that on Linux, on a comparable but 
different hardware configuration. 

I rarely have access to a Windows machine so my testing on 
this platform is limited, but I'd say Snowglobe crashes are 
currently too frequent on Windows to be acceptable; 
instead, on Linux Snowglobe is currently working quite well 
for me, apart some texture loading issues I'm still a bit 
confused about.

oh - if you're on Friendfeed or plan to give it a try (it's
