more details in https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-24644  but to some degree this has always existed but never as often as its becoming in 2.5 and 2.6 builds.  The viewer connects to the sim but services like offline ims and stuff just don't recognize you're logged in.  it gets very annoying
