Or, for a local server, not have a fee. That's where I see SL taking  
on the attributes of Croquet, for private servers where upload and  
bandwidth issues are irrelevant. A local server could even accept  
movies as texture assets.

I'd like to have that just for my own applications, without them  
being shared... using something like a media texture, but one local  
to the client rather than the parcel. Again, for shared applications,  
you'd really want to have private servers local to the users who are  
sharing them.
