[sldev] [POLICY] ESC exempt from open source and GPL licensing?

Maybe it's my lack of experience with OpenSource projects, but I'd
like to hear of a project with a sturdy reputation that is dual
licensed in this manner but is useless without the propietrary
licensed back end.

There is a lot of  claims around the client being "Open Sourced" ..
strictly, that is true, but it has been done in such a manner that is
nothing to be proud about.
