i think that the whole permissions systems is an "honor" system at best.
why? well, the client --- or better: a client --- will always get the
prim coordinates as well as the texture references from the grid. with
open source clients you cannot count on nor can you guarantee that they
will NOT act as a "copy bot" --- with the exception of scripts, but with
open grids/open sims that will change as well.
as the "DRM" debacle of the last years has shown, "DRM" never really
works in the end --- and it always drags with it more problems
(useability, maintainability, etc), that become a pain to interact with.
just my humble opinion, though. feel free to disagree :-)
