i think that the whole permissions systems is an "honor" system at best.

Regarding an open grid: Wouldn't it still be more practical for somebody to
copy via a client hack than via a server hack if it's not about scripts?
Should be easier than trying to get people on your sim to copy it.

Of course scripts are an issue but for the LL grid it will certainly come
down to be a trust issue. Linden Lab needs will most probably have a TOS in
place for connecting to their grid.

But as was obvious in the meeting yesterday, the copy problem seems to be
one of the main issues, at least for some. I haven't yet talked to content
creators how big they see that issue (and it might also need some
explanation and beside that an open grid of course offers a bigger market
and other opportunities than just problems).

But in any case Linden Lab should address this issue and maybe reveal a bit
on how they think it might work regarding connection of foreign servers. For
me it would also be interesting to know how much of the content in world is
actually bought content and how much is just made for fun (e.g. on the web
we have right now a big community of people creating stuff just for fun and
I am interested to know how much this is the case for the SL community).
