What needs to be kept in mind however is a couple of things about the
current permission system:
1) The current system works, SL has a robust object sales economy based on
it, so it is not so broken that it needs some kind of major change of
overhaul like getting rid of no-transfer). If anything it needs maybe a
little refinement or addition to.
2) The current permission system as simple as it is is actually quite
complex to people that don't really know what they are doing. So any changes
or additions should not complexify it any more than it already is. It MAY be
possible to even simplify it without giving up any of the current creator
freedoms.
That being said, I say fix the current bugs in it FIRST before continuing
with any serious changes. The object going no copy when an in world copy is
made because it contains a no copy inventory is REALLY ANNOYING.
I do like the idea of a "GPL" like permission as it was called, though in
reality a "This must remain free" permission. I create a lot of things, I
sell things, I give away things. But I will NEVER give away a full perm
object! Too many people take your good intentions and then rip other people
off by reselling them. I would love to see a "Keep this object free"
permission :)
