[sldev] A forum

I agree that this can become a pretty heated issue pretty quickly.
I'm not 100% sure that we can't have both worlds, at least to some
degree as many forums have capabilities to be monitored and have new
posts sent out similar to email lists.
Personally, I would prefer the forums with notifications of some sort
because I'd prefer not to store all the messages locally. Thunderbird
now pauses for a moment before opening my SLDEV folder, even though I
limit it to the last 60 days.
The mailing list has archives, but responses don't always get put in the
same thread all together.
This adds to the complexity when someone new to the list wants to search
for an answer to something. That answer may be spread out across several
days in the archive. Forums tend to have the threads organized much better.
Would it be possible to either create a forum that sends new posts out
to the mailing list (but keeps threads organized the way forums usually
do), or have the mailing list archive message in a forum like fashion?
This would seem to make everybody happy so those that want to be
informed immediately can, and those that just want to browse topics
periodically (without having to subscribe, can...).
