(crossposting to Crystal Space and Second Life developer lists)

Hi folks,

I'm the open source busybody for Linden Lab (the Second Life folks). I
was poking around looking at the project idea pages for other Google
Summer of Code projects, and saw this interesting bit on the Crystal
Space page:
"Foilage mesh: Improve (we already have something half done) or make a
plugin for nice fast foliage. It might also be worth considering some
shader/mesh combination."
(page: http://trac.crystalspace3d.org/trac/CS/wiki/SoC%20Ideas )

Is this something we should figure out how to share? Making the foilage
in Second Life look better has long been on our list of things to do,
and we've toyed with the idea of replacing our existing homegrown (but
GPL'd) foilage work with Speedtree or something else that looks nicer.
Perhaps there's an opportunity to at least figure out a proper API that
could be used by both projects.

Thoughts?

Rob
